Welcome to GARDEN RETREATS, your full service landscape design, construction, consulting and instruction company. We specialize in the integration of fine art (i.e. bronze, marble, glass and other cutting edge as well as traditional elements), in to the residential and commercial landscapes. Our team of collaborative contract expertise and unique landscape resources including: designer concrete patios, porches and structures, swimming pools, walls, outdoor kitchens and entertainment centers, quality pottery, exclusive Basalt Column water features and unusually large mineral rock water falls, a myriad of high end furniture and umbrella's, tried and true paver stones and natural stone, and lots of fun whimsical art for a playful garden.

Joseph Pattin's recognized landscape designs include a myriad of styles from California eclectic, CA natives, English Cottage, Zen Mediation, Japanese Garden with Koi ponds, Italian-Tuscan artistry to "Sustainable" or "Green" landscapes, that reduce water and energy consumption, and save on green waste. Joseph Pattin has been designing gardens for over 40 years based on his Native Californian residency including his extensive knowledge and deep studies of California's diverse ecosystems and micro-climates.

Joseph Pattin has been designing gardens since childhood and his passion continues today. He has a natural ability to transform boring space into exquisite places of tranquility and delight. Everyday he studies the natural environment for aesthetic possibilities and for new ideas. What inspires him the most is to design a unique garden by working in collaboration with the client’s ideas.

His first landscape company was based in Silicon Valley where he designed gardens based on ecological principles and specialized in Herb Gardens, Japanese, English Cottage and Edible Gardens.

Since relocating to the Sacramento Area from 8600 feet in elevation in the Colorado Rockies, he has founded a new company named Garden Retreats which focuses on creating sacred gardens for tranquility. His design themes include California Natural, English Cottage, Japanese, Outdoor Kitchen Entertainment, Koi Pond, Feng Shui, Spanish Courtyard, Edible Cottage and Drought-Deer Resistant Gardens of the Sierra Foothills.

Joseph donates landscape designs to Habitat for Humanity and WEAVE.

He lives in Rocklin where he consults and designs gardens in the greater Sacramento area and from Reno, Nevada to Sebastopol.
